The thing about this story is that history may or may not repeat itself. Morgana kind of corresponds to Nimueh, in that they were close friends to their king (Arthur, Uther), but other circumstances drove them apart. We, in a sense, have to hope that all the others turn out differently. That's one of the fun parts about the show - while we have a general idea of what's going to happen, there are so many variations of the legend that we don't know exactly what's going to happen, or how it's going to get there. :D
Glad you liked this. :D And yeah, I tend to think Uther cares for Arthur as much as Camelot, and has to balance what's good for his son and what's good for his kingdom. And, in the original, original, absolute original legends, Merlin was a young boy, and a child prodigy. ;D
